StudyScriptPrivacy Policy
What StudyScript collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: your plan lives on your phone.
- Your plan, classes, grades and calendar stay on your phone.
- We never ask for your school password.
- We don't show ads, we don't use tracking or analytics tools, and we don't sell your information.
- You don't make an account with an email or password. Features that need a server use a random ID instead.
This policy explains what StudyScript ("StudyScript," "we," "us") collects through its app and website (studyscript.app), why, and what you can do about it. Questions: support@studyscript.app.
What stays on your phone
Most of StudyScript works entirely on your phone and never reaches us:
- Your classes, deadlines, scores, grades and study plan
- Your calendar. With your permission, StudyScript reads your calendar to plan around it. Event names and details are not sent to us. If you choose, it adds game times and study blocks to your calendar.
- Your study-style answers and what StudyScript learns about how you study (check-ins, focus sessions, how long things take you)
- Class website calendar links (for example, a Canvas calendar feed). These are stored in your phone's secure Keychain, and your phone downloads the feed directly from your school's site.
- Notifications, such as the morning brief and focus reminders, which are scheduled on your phone
What we receive, and why
1. Syllabus text, to find your deadlines
When you add a syllabus, your phone pulls the text out of the file or photo, then sends only the text to our server, along with the course code, school and term. Our server uses Anthropic's Claude AI to read it and find deadlines, weights and course details. The original file never leaves your phone.
We save the extracted information (deadlines, grading breakdown and course details such as office hours), not the document, in a shared class library. When a classmate adds the same syllabus, they get it instantly. We also log a random device identifier, the course code and usage counts, to limit how many syllabi one phone can read per day and to track our costs.
2. A random StudyScript ID
Some features need a server: group projects, study sessions, classmate date-change alerts, feedback and subscriptions. For these, the app creates an anonymous account identified only by a random ID. It has no email, phone number or password.
3. Group projects and study sessions
If you use them, we store what you enter there: the display name you choose, the project's tasks, links and due dates, when you're free to meet, and study sessions you post or join. Other members of that project or session can see this. For classes, we record which course codes you're in, so we can show how many classmates use StudyScript (a count, never who), plus any date changes you report or confirm.
4. Feedback
If you send feedback, we receive your message, any contact info you choose to add, the screen you were on, the app version, the iOS version, your phone model, your school and how many days you've used the app.
5. Subscriptions and payments
If you subscribe in the app, Apple handles the payment. If a parent or someone else pays on the web, the payment is handled by Stripe through RevenueCat. The payer enters their card and email with them, not with us. We receive only your subscription status (for example "active, renews October 29") linked to your random ID. We never see full card numbers.
6. Visits to our website
studyscript.app uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't identify you. We see totals like how many people opened a page.
7. Public information the app downloads
To show your school's academic calendar, game schedules and campus events, your phone downloads public pages from your school's websites. Those sites may see a normal web request from your phone.

They only get what they need to do that job.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't use analytics tools that watch how you use the app.
- We don't ask for your school login, and we can't see your school accounts.
- We don't collect your location.
- We don't share your plan, grades or activity with parents, schools or anyone else. If someone else pays for your subscription, they don't get access to your information.
Keeping and deleting your information
- On your phone: You → Start over erases your plan and everything StudyScript stored on the phone. Deleting the app does too.
- On our servers: Email support@studyscript.app with your StudyScript ID (in the app under You) and we'll delete the information linked to it within 30 days. Extracted syllabus information in the shared class library isn't tied to you, so it stays to help classmates.
- We keep usage logs and feedback only as long as they're useful for running and improving StudyScript.
Age
StudyScript is made for college students. It isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used StudyScript, contact us and we'll delete their information.
Security
Information sent to our servers is encrypted in transit, our database only allows access through specific functions, and private links are stored in your phone's Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For big changes, we'll also let you know in the app.
